ShawnShanyun Lu， Ph.D.， head of CSPTAL’s U.S office and a registered patent agent，counsels clients in intellectual property law， particularly in the U.S. andChina patent prosecution. His current practice focuses on patent prosecution inthe following areas: computer science， medical device， nanomaterials， biotechnology，and drug discovery. He has prepared and prosecuted more than 500 patentapplications in a variety of areas.  

Dr.Lu has more than 15 years of academic research experience that he uses toenhance his legal experience. He was most recently at the University of Alabamaat Birmingham (UAB) where he was Assistant Manager for X-ray CrystallographyCore Facility. Prior to UAB， Dr. Lu was a faculty member in the College of LifeSciences， Peking University in Beijing， China. He was a biologist specializingin biochemistry， molecular biology， x-ray crystallography， structure-based drugdiscovery， nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and bioinformatics. Dr. Luhas published his research findings in journals including: Biochemistry，Proteins， Protein Science， Protein Engineering， Journal of Biological Science，Journal of Biological Chemistry， Journal of Immunology， Journal of Virology，Carbohydrate Research， Neurological Research， Acta Crystallographica Section Dand other international recognized research venues.
